The Hope Reformed Church Legacy Foundation has been created to develop a way for us to receive and manage estate gifts. This will provide us with special opportunities to fund extraordinary ministry projects. We are glad to be able to advance God’s kingdom in greater ways.
What does the Legacy Foundation provide?
Our Legacy Foundation provides a way for us to receive and hold gifts for specific purposes. It helps us secure funding for the future. It provides a structure for us to receive and administer estate gifts of cash and property. It expands our ministry opportunities by providing a systematic way to acquire funds for programs that may not fit into an annual church budget but, if implemented, could make significant kingdom impact.
How does our Legacy Foundation grow?
Our Legacy Foundation is designed to receive gifts that will be needed in future years or gifts that will be invested, with income being distributed to our church to support various ministries. Many gifts to our Legacy Foundation will be what we refer to as “Planned Gifts.” They will come from:
- Charitable Trusts
- Charitable Gift Annuities
- Retirement Assets
- Life Insurance
Who manages the Legacy Foundation?
For many of us, we can look back and remember life-shaping events at church. For all of us, we can look around today and find much for which to give God praise. Yet we may not feel confident about leaving an estate gift to our church, not knowing if our church could handle a large gift without hurting our general fund giving.
That’s why a Hope Reformed Church Legacy Foundation Committee was formed to manage and partner with Barnabas Foundation. Barnabas has been helping families and churches with gift planning since 1976. They have the specialized expertise needed to manage and invest estate gifts to help us fund future ministry opportunities without impacting our general fund giving. Our church’s Legacy Foundation allows us to receive estate gifts, directed to the ministries of our choice, with the peace of mind that Barnabas Foundation is managing the details for us.
